Swirling red, white, and blue patterns flow across Utah’s desert landscape.

Painted Currents

Utah

The desert surface appears to flow like liquid, with bands of color bending and circling across the terrain. Rich reds contrast with pale whites and subtle blues, forming layered patterns that resemble currents or topographic lines. From above, the landscape transforms into a natural painting, where erosion has sculpted both texture and color into a cohesive design. Photo © copyright by Kane Engelbert.
